Give a major scientific database a website that researchers, journalists and curious readers can all explore, and that the research team can keep up to date.
Give a major scientific database a website that researchers, journalists and curious readers can all explore, and that the research team can keep up to date.
The challenge
The challenge
HiQuake holds 1,385 projects across mining, dams, fracking, geothermal and carbon storage, each with its own location and evidence.
The map had to stay fast and readable at world scale and still show the detail a geologist needs.

The outcome
We built the site in Framer around a custom map component: Mapbox satellite, hybrid and terrain views, plus a lightweight standard map, with filters by project type.
Visitors can download the full database and bibliography, and researchers can submit new cases through the site. The database was last updated in September 2026.
