Plot Twist privacy policy

Plot Twist is a daily film-guessing game for iPhone and Android, made by SideFixers. This page says what the game keeps about you, why, where, for how long, and how to download or delete it. In short: you can play without an account, we never ask for your email, and you can delete everything at any time from the app.

What we keep

  • A private player ID. When you first open the app, our server gives your phone a random ID. It isn’t linked to your name, email or phone number.

  • Your play. Your guesses, hints, results, streak, coins, freeze days and shields, awards, Watchlist, and the optional name and avatar you choose.

  • How you use the app. When you open it, its version and your phone’s system (iPhone or Android, and its version), your answers in the first-run setup, the settings you change, Endless rounds played, and when you share a result. We use this to run and improve the game.

  • If you sign in with Apple or Google: only a private ID that Apple or Google gives us for you. Never your email or name. For Sign in with Apple we also keep the token Apple needs so we can end your Apple sign-in if you delete your account.

  • Only on your phone: your taste picks, reminder time, settings and recent searches.

  • Never: your email, contacts, photos or location.

Ads

Plot Twist is free and paid for by ads you choose to watch, for example to get a hint or save your streak. The ads come from Google AdMob, which runs an auction in which AppLovin and Unity Ads also bid. These companies may collect information from your phone, such as its advertising ID, to show and measure ads.

  • On iPhone, they can use the advertising ID only if you allow tracking when your phone asks. You get every reward either way.

  • In the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland, Google’s consent form asks what you agree to before any ad. You can change your answer later in Settings, under Ad choices.

  • From the ad networks we receive only a confirmation that an ad was watched to the end, and which network showed it, so we can give you the reward.

Their own policies: Google, AppLovin and Unity.

Where it’s kept

On our game server, run on Render, with its database on Neon. Both are in Singapore. Film details and pictures come from TMDB. Plot Twist uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

How long we keep it

  • For as long as you have an account.

  • A player who never signed in and hasn’t opened the app for 12 months is deleted automatically.

  • Records of the days you opened the app become nameless totals after 13 months.

  • We keep each day’s game totals, such as how many people solved the film, with no player in them.

Your choices

  • Download your data: Settings, then Data and privacy, then Download my data.

  • Delete everything: Settings, then Delete account. Your account and everything of yours is removed from our server straight away. If you used Sign in with Apple, we also end it with Apple.

  • Ads: Settings, then Ad choices, in the UK and EEA. On iPhone, you can also change tracking under Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Tracking.

Depending on where you live, laws such as the UK and EU GDPR and India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act give you rights to see, correct or delete your data, and to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Plot Twist is rated 12+ and isn’t meant for children under 13. We don’t knowingly keep data about children under 13. If you think a child has used it, write to us and we’ll delete their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change matters.
